             In the novel 1984 by George Orwell, he, describes a world in which all human characteristic traits are abolished and man is left to be a nine to five worker with no life. Winston Smith is the embodiment of " Big Brother's" thoughts on what an orthodox citizen should be. Until one faithful day when he breaks a small rule that will change is live forever. His breaking of a minute rule and the actions that he takes afterward are what make Winston one of two heroes in 1984.
             While walking through a poverty stricken section of town, Winston decides to go in to an antiques store. Inside the store Winston buys a notepad full of paper. When begins to keep a diary of all his activities, he knows that keeping tract of history through any means was a huge crime. He realizes that from the second he bought the notepad he is a dead man, and he knows that his whole outlook on live has changed drastically . He begins to become more adventuress in is dealings with Julia, who is the main person that helps Winston take his metamorphosis to the next level. Buying the notepad is Winston initiation to heroship, his decision makes him a hero by going against the grain of all the discrepancies in society,
             Julia is one of Winston infinitely many coworkers, is plays a huge role in changing Winston from a working class nerd to a person who takes chances in revolt against big brother. When Winston meets her face to face the first time she slips him a note telling to meet her out in the woods. Winston takes part, many times, in one of the worst actions a human can do at the time, he has sex with Julia. Sex purely for pleasure or having sex with a fellow party member at the time was a crime that if committed was punishable by death.
