A Universal Feeling

             Have you ever waited in a queue at a bank to deposit 200,000 TL for a few pages of photocopy, after visiting the bank for a few times when you didn't have time to wait or waiting would be useless because they decided not to accept any payment after 11:30 a.m.? If your answer comes out to be positive, you know what made me frustrated and angry just a few days ago. Anger is one of the many emotions that all human beings experience from time to time, but should we show everyone that we are angry? According to my personal experiences and those that I've heard from others, I think that many of the generalizations researchers have made are true.
             Jamie Talan, the author of "The Anger Factor", suggests that it's better to understand feelings and try to change what is bothering instead of increasing the risk of dying younger by getting angry every time the same thing happens. I agree that it is easier to try to prevent the situation that makes us angry or to stay away from it as much as we can instead of going over the same annoying experience again and again. Every time I go out with my father he is anxious about being late to wherever we are going. It used to make me angry to hear the same two words, "be quick", although we wouldn't be late anyway.I realized that he can't stop himself from having the anxiety of being late, and I decided to get ready earlier than the time we plan to go out preventing him from being anxious and myself angry.
             As he was trying to determine the day-to-day events that contribute to heart disease, Dr. Redford Williams of Duke University found that blood pressure goes up when people are exposed to violence both in real life events and during "Rambo" style movies ("The Anger Factor").
