What will I be like as a Parent?
Introduction: Right now, I am a 17 year old young woman. I am currently attending Patrick
Fogarty Catholic Secondary School. I am quite happy with my life and I cannot think of anything
that I would like to change. I don't have any children at the time being and I don't plan on
having any soon, if even at all. I have always felt that I wanted to adopt my children rather than
give birth myself. I am not sure why, whether it be to give a child a chance at having a good
home and family, or maybe I am just scared. As I get older though, I am starting to feel that I
would rather raise a child of my own, one that I know is mine, to pass a part of my family on.
The following will reveal my thoughts to you on how I think about parenting.
Paragraph 1: Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved playing with babies, and dolls. It
is a feature that almost every young girl has, the sense of a nurturing mother. I love to be around
babies as much as I can. I spend a lot of time with my 4 year old nephew, Dylan. I have known
him and taken care of him a lot since he was born, and I love spending as much time as I can
with him. His mother is kind of slow and doesn't have a lot of the parenting skills that are
required to raise a child, but Dylan is turning out great. He also has a learning disability and was
born almost 2 months premature. I know that when I plan on having a child, I will research and
read about parenting so that I know what to do in certain situations.
