Values - where are we going, where are we now

Values – Where Have We Been and Where Are We Going?
When you think of your values, what do you think of? I think of my family, God, work ethic, and friends. Values are and have always been a very important part of society. They have changed with the times, and even returned with the times. While I believe that the way some values need change, others are changing although I see no reason for them to change.
One of the most important values we have ever had is that of family. We have seen this value change in many ways. In the past there were families that we would call true families. The "perfect" family was seen a lot. In this perfect family both parents were still married. The father would work, while the mother stayed home to take care of the kids. You would normally have the 2.5 kids, and a dog. You saw this in the T.V. shows of the past. Some examples of these are "Leave it to Beaver" and "Andy Griffith". You see many parents getting divorced and the single parent families. You may have blended families with step-parents and step-siblings. You may even see a family with two homosexuals living together with adopted children. While some television shows, for example "7th Heaven", stress the importance of family, most do not. I believe that this value will change. I believe that this value will keep changing in the way it has. I believe we will see the "perfect" families disappear. Hopefully, this will be a value that comes back to us in the future.
