Snowboarding is a sport that many people have grown to love. It started out as a sport for "rebels" and now it is one of the fastest growing sports in the country. Snowboarding is better than skiing in many ways.
             Snowboarding has much less equipment than skiing. When snowboarding, there is much less equipment to carry around. Less equipment makes it easier and more comfortable to get around. It's also a lot more inexpensive, so you'll have more money to buy yourself that hot chocolate to warm you up when you are out on a cold day. In contrast, skiing, there is boots, skis, and poles. If you rent equipment, which most people do, it will be a pain to wait in lines for the numerous number of items needed. You'll have to waddle your way uncomfortably up the lodge stairs while trying to carry heavy stiff boots, your skis, and poles. CS
             Skiing takes longer and is harder to learn proper technique. Advanced skiers will tell you that it takes a lot of work to become good at skiing because it is easy to develop "bad habits" if you are not taught proper technique. This makes learning not only difficult but also frustrating. It is even harder to learn technique since lessons offered at ski resorts don't teach proper technique, but, instead, teach you only how to snowplow. Many times, when you are learning to ski, if you fall, you will fall in an uncomfortable position. This not only hurts, but it is also awkward since falls are in an unnatural position. . CM. CS.
             Snowboarding is easier to pick up. In contrast to skiing, snowboarding's body positions can be learned in a few hours. It's effortless to learn the few body positions and techniques. This makes it more fun because you progress each time you ride. The only time snowboarding is more difficult than skiing is the first few days. It's difficult to stand since you are attached to a board on a slanted hill; you need to learn balance...
