insecurity about the death of Duncan and Macbeth even gets to the stage where he envies the peace that the last King, Duncan, now has. Lady Macbeth comforts her husband and advises Macbeth to forget the past and look forward to the future. But what Lady Macbeth didn't know was that the future held another murder and it would be at the expense of her husband...
             Just before the banquet, the three murderers gather together in the place where Macbeth had promised Banquo and Fleance will come riding past. They stay there awaiting the arrival of their victims. They manage to kill Banquo but Fleance escaped. This is the last scene before the banqueting scene begins. The mood changes rapidly from a cold, bloody murder to a celebration and happiness.
             Macbeth and his wife had arranged the banquet because they wanted to show off their new leading roles as King and Queen. At the beginning of the scene it was a celebration for Macbeth for becoming the King, the Lords and people at the banquet all looked up to him and saw him as their new ruler. Macbeth and his wife both were very confident and happy at the start of Act 3 Scene 4- 'Our self will mingle with society and play the humble host.' Macbeth was the dominant of the relationship at the beginning but as the scene progressed Lady Macbeth became the one which held the situation together.
