Macbeth

For this piece of coursework I am going to compare how two video versions of Macbeth, the Roman Polanski and the BBC version, captured the full impact of the banquet scene from the original play.
After watching the two films, I found they varied greatly in many ways, in how the characters were portrayed, which methods worked best and how the script was followed.
After watching the BBC version, I thought the script was long drawn out like the play, word for word making lines last longer, and because of this I found myself not really concentrating on what was being said, whereas the Polanski version, which had a much more realistic set, had me captivated. The lines were shorter and I think a lot more feeling went in to what was being said, especially by Jon Finch who played Macbeth and who showed a horrified and terrified look, when he saw the ghost of Banquo.

I think overall the whole scene was very realistic with a lot of cheer and merriment going on in the background, where as in the BBC version the lords were quiet at all times even at the start when they were meant to be having a good time. The set was very basic and I think quite boring and drab, and the spread of food was not like a banquet at all.
In both plays they included someone who murdered Banquo, but both videos tackled their actions differently. In the BBC version there was only one murderer who murdered Banquo, and he appeared to be
