Through out my life, I have learned from others and I have grown, certain people have influenced me in the choices I have made; the biggest influence on me is Gods calling for my education at Olivet. While I'm pursuing my further education at Olivet Nazarene University, I am going to major in Child Psychology. I love to work with children and I feel a strong sense that God is calling me to your school. These reason are what makes me positive that Olivet is right for me.
Child Psychology interests me because I love to work with children and help out people with their problems. I love being there for my friends and others when they need me. I could not decide whether or not to do psychology or become an elementary teacher. I prayed hard to the Lord and followed my heart to majoring in child psychology. I believe that working with troubled kids who have been abused, molested, or even dealing with parents separating will help me both spiritually and mentally.
Upon graduation from Olivet, I plan to work at some type of social clinic, with hope that in a few years of practicing in a clinic I would be ready to work for myself with my own patients. I want to develop a one-on-one relationship with my patients, where they will be able to open up and feel comfortable talking and expressing their feelings with me. I don't necessarily want the children to look at me as their doctor instead more as a friend. I feel that psychology works a little like ministry, because you're doing the good deed of helping people out and possibly changing their lives forever.
I have been involved with Youth for Christ for six years now. In my freshmen year I had the chance of a lifetime to go to DCLA 2000.
