             The posters served as a reminder of how much control the government, officially called The Party, had over the people. The posters were not the only form of propaganda the Party forced on the people. In each person's house there were telescreens, which resemble the television. The people in the society had no control over their personal telescreens. The Party watched everything the people said and did through the telescreens.
