In the psychology of communication, my classmates and I are forced into conversing with one another. In dyads, we reveal personal information that is usually not revealed to complete strangers, but rather reserved for our closest friends. As the notes are being given, I often find myself agreeing with what is being said. Whether it is a positive or negative characteristic, I always seem to be able to relate it to my life. And so, in this paper, I will talk about the aspects of this class that relate intensely to my life, the things that I like, and the things that I would like to improve.
I have always been a more reserved person. Quiet and shy by nature, I am usually the one on the side, just listening to the people around me. I believe that I am a good listener, and I take pride in the fact that if any of my friends need someone to talk to, it is usually me. I am the unofficial therapist of the group. No matter what is going on between who, I am always in the middle of it. I see both sides from both parties, and try very hard to give objective, unbiased advice.
Sometimes when I give advice, I feel afraid that maybe this advice may not be the best for that person. That is when I begin to feel guilty. I try to control how other people react to me and I do not acknowledge the fact that I cannot do it.
