             Since the attacks the Coast Guard has had to "beef up". They have a much larger mission now, and in order to accomplish their mission they are going to need more. More men, more money, more equipment, the list can go on and on. The Coast Guard's homeland security roles include:1. Protect ports, the flow of commerce, and the marine transportation system from terrorism. 2. Maintain maritime border security against illegal drugs, illegal aliens, firearms, and weapons of mass destruction. 3.
