Dreams

I agree that dreams can be a double-edged sword. I believe that dreams can always be beneficial, healthy even. Dreams build character, determination, will power, and motivation. Everyone needs to dream a little. Without dreams, you have no inspiration to strive to work harder. You are lifeless, dull, and lazy. Dreaming is a natural process that starts from childhood, when we build our goals for the future and set our aspirations. We prioritize our goals, draw out our plans, and color our future when we have dreams. This is a natural, healthy type of dreaming that can lead people to build a better future.
On the other hand, there is also a less beneficial and unhealthy type of dreaming. Some dreams can be outlandishly irrational. People might envision destructive illusions, and disguise them as legitimate, constructive goals. For example, the recent show, "American Idol" illustrated that some contestants were fervidly determined to win the title, and believed that they were truly the godliest singers on the face of the earth. Unfortunately, they learned the hard way that they didn't have any notable talent, judging by Judge Simon's harsh criticisms. These "blind" people were disillusioned by their dreams and unprepared for the realties.
Although dreams can be destructive, I believe I'm a dreamer. I think I'm intelligent enough to set reasonable, rational goals for myself. My optimism is the force that makes me set dreams for myself. As long as I am not delusional, or irrational, I believe that my dreams will always benefit me and keep my healthy by setting a vision for the future, and giving me inspiration to continue my journey.
