America: the Land of Morals?

America is known throughout the world as the land of the free, but it has always been questioned for the influence morals have on the American society. Some nations believe America is affected too much by morals. China for instance believes human rights and moral beliefs are unnecessary. In other nations, America is believed to be too immoral for its usage of such things like the death penalty and abortion. Domestically, these issues are also questioned.
Americans always complain about morals in America. Whether it is a president committing adultery or the legalizing of abortion, morals are always a controversial issue.
Can Americans have both: morals and freedom? Some believe that morals are what make America run, but others believe that freedom is what keeps American running. But which, morals or freedom, is truly running America?
Are morals really necessary in the American government? Where would freedom be if America turns to morals for guidance? No longer will there be abortions. No alcohol would be allowed, and adultery would be severely punished.
If the American government was ran without any morals standards, what could happen? Citizens could run wild doing whatever they pleased. The American government would ignore the basic rights of their people and mayhem would take place. Would there be a stable government?
So in order for America to be "America," maybe the nation needs both. Operating with only one would only lead to chaos. America would become a crazy, mixed-up country. Perhaps, the blend of morals and freedoms show the real diversity of America. Not only is America diverse in race and ethnicity, it is diverse in ideologies. And that, my fellow citizens, is why America is America.
