Act (AAA) gave subsidies to farmers who capped their production in order to increase prices. The mainly black sharecroppers were to receive a portion of the subsidies. The lack of African American political power and influence in the south resulted in the uneven disbursement of the funds. The National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA) sought to create collaboration within industries concerning wages and prices in a monopolistic manner. However, the NIRA was declared unlawful and was abandoned a few years later.
