The observation of people on Neville Street in Beckley can be an interesting thing to
             watch. Most people seem to be in a mad rush to get where they are going.
             As I was sitting in the eye doctor's office one day I observed people during their lunchtime. One of the first things I observed while looking out the window was people driving in their cars. A majority of drivers were woman talking on their cell phones. The women were not paying attention to the road. They all seemed to be in a hurry to get somewhere.
             My attention was diverted from watching the people outside to some voices I heard in a room. The voices I heard were coming from behind a cubicle. I could here the voices of two men discussing the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. One of the men's opinions was that it was all America's fault. The other man was very quiet. Maybe this was because he didn't want to discuss that issue, so it seemed.
             I decided that I would go back to looking out the window and tune them out. I notice a man in the distance walking down the sidewalk. As he grew closer to the building, I could see he had a dog on a leash and a walking stick. I assumed he was a blind man. He walked back and forth on the same street a couple of times and then he disappeared.
             Finally, I heard my name being called to go see the doctor. At this point, my thoughts had to be focused elsewhere. While the doctor was talking to me I tuned him out and thought of all the interesting things I had seen. It made me realize that I should take more time out to see what's going on around me.
