icroeconomics class, the content that is covered is very basic. Many facts, definitions and equations are presented to the students. Any teacher can simply do that though – just present content. It is the challenge of the teacher, however, to not only present the content in an easily relatable and understandable manner, but to also let the students work with the content and use it in application. Unless they do this, the students will never be able to fully understand how the world of economics works.
             In a particular case, there was a group of first year college students in a teachers microeconomics class. Before the students even came to school in the fall, they were sent a letter from the instructor. It said to read the first chapter of the text book so that on the first day of class, they would have something to "discuss." This led the students to think that after they read the chapter, they would be discussing the contents in a forum-like environment in the classroom.
