Any director directing any movie has fundamental goals that they want to achieve. One of these fundamental goals include keeping with the accuracy of the times in which is to be tentatively depicted in the movie. In The Lion in Winter directed by Anthony Harvey, it is a movie that shows King Henry II¡¯s deliberations over his successor in England around the 12th century. As a whole, the movie was as accurate as could be analyzed in its semantics. This movie is also accurate in its historical sense. The events that follow throughout the movie suggest a type of explanation or theorized elucidation that support what happened factually in King Henry II¡¯s reign.
             In many little ways, the movie was accurately depicted. First of all, the way the town is set up in the movie is truthful with the times it is seeking to depict. For security from outside barbarians and such, people during this time formed small communities much like the one seen in The Lion in Winter. These people lived, and worked around a central castle, which in this case is King Henry II¡¯s castle.
             Another aspect that was more or less accurately depicted in the movie was the clothing. The ¡°king¡± wore elaborate clothing especially in the presence of the public, wearing a type of hose, jacket, and a tunic. Eleanor of Aquitaine, who is played by Katharine Hepburn wore gowns, elaborate headwear (such as crowns), many headdresses, and frequently wore a turban over her head. Such were what the aristocratic or wealthy women during the 12th century wore, of which the queen would obviously be dressed in.
             Even minor characters were depicted accurately as well. Including the bishop, who wore long woolen clothing such as the white gown the clergy wore in their short appearance in the movie.
