To Favor a Youth Corps

             "Equip Our Youth for Life"
             Spending 2 years in the Youth Corps after high school can instill qualities and utilize talents in our teens that would otherwise lie dormant. Society complains of our youth having no sense of purpose or meaningful role in the social order but yet programs to build the skills and develop the perspectives to meet the challenges of our times are scarce. This voluntary program, The Youth Corps, will empower our youth to become better human beings because it will equip them with the necessary teamwork skills, job experience and fervent work ethic that hopping from one minimum-wage job to the next or floating through 4 years of college will not.
             Being a team player in any environment is key and very beneficial to our youth as they mature. Many of our youth will hold ten to twenty different jobs before they reach the age of 20, and most of them will be shortened because of the lack of teamwork skills the youth has or sheer boredom as a result of not being challenged. By being a part of the Youth Corps, they would typically organize young people into crews, with each crew working under the supervision of a trained adult leader. Each of them would be groomed to eventually hold a position of leadership and required to work together to complete different projects assigned.
             Another great benefit of the Corps would be the actual job experience gained by our youth. While in high school many of them hold jobs and do not get the added privilege of being in an environment where those in charge genuinely care about how the job is done and whether or not it actually gets done. Gaining that experience from a disciplined perspective will take them to new heights in whatever they choose to do afterwards. The work assignments build skills and utilize talents that are transferable to either the corporate environment or to college life.
