             This quote is written about love and states the fact that love causes blindness. The first part of this quote is explained simply as a man can never be more proud of himself than his lover is at any given time. Everyone has heard the quote "Love is blind." The writer of this quote says the same exact thing just in a fancier form when he says, "And therefore it was well said, that it is impossible to love and to be wise."
             I think what the writer is trying to explain in the first part of this quote is when you love someone and they are proud of you for something you may have done, it matters so much more, than how proud you are yourself (if you are proud at all). I agree with quote in the sense that when you love somebody and they are proud of you, you become proud with yourself also. I've had similar experiences in my life. When someone who you are in love with compliments you and says, "Hey, I'm proud of you for doing what you did," it lifts the other persons self esteem because your actions didn't go unnoticed by the one you love the most. That is what I think this quote is saying and I totally agree with it.
             I also agree with the next part of this quote when it says that love is blind. The writer doesn't say directly that love is blind but he says that it's impossible to love and to be wise. I think he is trying to say that the more you fall in love with someone the less wise you become. I think he says this because when you do fall in love you care about nothing else except the other person.
