So, what am I thinking about, as a future pensioner? I don't know. Should I know? It seems so far in the future. There's an aphorism or how do they call it, that one should live day at a time. But tomorrow will eventually arrive, then the day after tomorrow and so on. I should consider thinking about my future.
What does the word 'pensioner' cohere for me with? Maybe it's my eighty years old grandmother, who is just now watching her favorite TV-show in her room. Her day also includes feeding the dog and sometimes herself too. It seems to me, that she's bored, very bored. She seldom has visitors and she goes out about once a year to make chemical waves to her hair.
Then there's another type of pensioners - ultraactive. I don't know if ultra is the correct word, but they sure are active. Their day also includes watching TV, but they go to church at least once a week, communicate with each other, go to activity centers and do some more interesting things. This kind of future seems horrible somehow.
The third type. They don't always sit at home, sometimes they go to the postoffice or supermarket. The most exciting moment of the day arrives when they embark on buss. It's so great to yell at a ten years old kid: "Hasn't your mum ever taught you that you should let older people sit." Some of them also enjoy performing as many illnesses as possible. They move as slowly as they can and definetly use a cain. Of course some are really ill, but they sit at home usually. This lifestyle doesn't seem very appealing either.
There's also the fourth type. It's ideal grandmother. Her day is filled with grandchildren. She likes to cook and she loves to knit and do other handicraft. She also reads different books to children, sings, is always joyful and never uses expressions like "don't want to", "don't have time" and "can't"". She has lots of good friends. I'd like to become something like she is.
So, what am I thinking about as a...
