"Cloning", a term traditionally used by scientists to describe different processes for duplicating biological material.
The possibility of human cloning raised when Scottish scientists at Roslin Institute created the much-celebrated sheep "Dolly". On February 27, 1997, Roslin Institute in Scotland announced that they had succeeded in giving birth to a sheep that had originated from a cell taken from an adult sheep. This made her the identical twin of a sheep that was six years older. Although there were some who doubted that the procedure, subsequent cloning successes with other animals, such as cattle and mice has proven the power of the cloning to be a huge achievement in technology.
The cloning of Dolly has aroused worldwide interest and concern because of its scientific and ethical implications.
The cloning issue is a very delicate and complicated issue. There are many factors to conceder when deciding what is right and wrong. There is always a lot of talk about why cloning is wrong ethically, and what I have found from the articles concerning cloning, they have a much stronger and convincing negative view.
People are not open to new ideas and are not willing to take upon ideas, which seem to be science fiction. They are afraid to branch out and are not even willing to learn about the procedure due to pure fear of stepping out of their safety zone.
We should be giving cloning a try and expanding our horizons. We could do so much with cloning such as saving lives with cloned organs and saving, even bring back endangered species. It could be the greatest thing since sliced bread if people are willing to give it a go.
