ow. A lot of times the realness of fantasy encourages these children to try and re-enact the events they see, such as pretending to shoot each other and make it a game. "With growing rates of violence, teen pregnancy and teen sexual activity, critics and religious leaders are up in arms against the media" (Leo 1).
             "The critical period of exposure to TV is pre-adolescent Childhood" (Clark 1). Many studies show that even violent cartoons, such as Sylvester trying to kill Tweety bird, can lead children into believing killing is an acceptable behavior. A major problem as well is that adults are not cautious enough when it comes to watching inappropriate programing in front of their infants
             and children. According to a study reported in the U.S. Journal of Science "Adolescents who watch more than one hour of television a day are more likely to commit aggressive and violent acts as adults." It should be a priority to every parent and/or care giver to shield America's youth from such obscenity, even though they may want to watch it themselves. What kind of example is a parent who watches a program with explicit sex or violence setting for their child, and what is the media leaving for generations to come to look back upon?
             Generation "x" is what most of the baby boomers call the generations of teenagers and young adults to come. People in general complain that teenagers are lazy and violent and many people have even mentioned things about being afraid of younger people because of what the
             media misconceives. Television, music, film, and other forms of mass media do very little to fix this perception , or to change their programming . "Violent programing on major broadcast networks has increased 14% in prime time since 1994" (Torr 26).
