Gay Marriage

             The Pledge of Allegiance says it all: "With liberty and justice for all." Last time I checked, "all" in includes homosexuals. Many people in America today believe that homosexuals should have equal rights and equal opportunities. But then the topic of gay marriage surfaces. It's a hard topic for many to find reasons to support gay marriage and also to oppose it. On the other hand, many believe this is an easy subject to find a conclusion on. There are a lot of reasons these days for opposing gay marriage but these reasons won't hold in an argument.
             The first argument is that marriage is between a man and women only. The first place to look is the dictionary and see what the definition of marriage is; the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law; the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage; the mutual relation of married persons. Well, for someone who is using this argument, the definition hurts. I think the definition speaks for itself. Therefore, by just using the definition marriage is not just between a man and a woman. Definitions of words change as much as a baby's diaper does in one day. Obviously the definition of marriage has changed it recent years due to the topic of gay marriage.
             Before I get into the argument dealing with children, let's look at the argument that marriages are for procreation. Let's pretend thirty percent of the world's population was gay. I know the percentage is probably more than that but we're pretending so give me a break. What about infertile couples who marry? Yes, most likely it is a big issue to the couple because they will never create a human together but the main reason they wed is not creating a child.
