Preacher

             Growing up as a Preacher's child
             Growing up as a preacher's son has had its on unique experiences as well as its unforgettable experiences. Through the years I have learned that being a preacher's child has its rewards and it's share of critics. In this society that we live in preacher's kids are always in the spotlight whether it's good or bad, where as society will only expound on the bad. The thing that the world has to understand is that there is no such thing as the perfect family, the perfect parent or the perfect child including preacher's kids. Somewhere along the line, we somehow started believing that Pk's are never angry, never depressed, never sick, never upset with a brother or friend. Society seems to think that we are supposed to do no wrong, when in reality that is not possible because we are only human and we do make mistakes. Being a minister child I have experienced the rewards as well as the criticism.
             Some of the rewards of being a preacher's kid are participating in church activities. I discovered my many talents in the music area, showing hospitality, having people skills and most of all my leadership skills. I now have a better knowledge of the bible and doctrine than other children. We travel to different places and meet people of all walks of life and that to me is a rewarding experience.
             People shouldn't criticize minister's kids, or make them feel like they should be angels. I think society should recognize that preacher's kids might rebel and turn away from the church but most of the time they don't go far because they found out there is nothing out there for them. I've been taught through the years that no matter how far you stray, God will always watch over you. Even if we experiment with drugs or premarital sex or whatever we have been grounded in the rock, so we will return to God as the prodigal son returned t
