"Now you take "Bambi" or "Snow White"-That's scary!"
An opinion is a statement of beliefs that can't be proven, but only supported. In, "Now you take "Bambi" or "Snow White"-That's scary!" by Stephen King his opinion was strongly visible throughout the story. As he voices his opinion of why he doesn't allow his kids to watch certain scary movies, he expressed, "I watched Bambi's mother shot and Bambi running frantically to escape being burned up in a forest fire," (484). He expresses how growing up as a child the normal scary things like Frankenstein didn't frighten him, but he was rather scared of Disney movies. He recognized how children are exposed to scary movie on daily basis, that's why he chose to keep them away from his kids. His commentary was strongly supported with rich details. As he pondered about whether he thought violent or horrifying programming should be banned from T.V. he replied, "No, I do not," (484). He didn't believe that they should take off those shows with violence but rather show them at a time where children wouldn't be awake, or exposed to it. He strongly believed that children shouldn't be exposed to all of the violence, but not exposing kids to violence and the truth in life a certain age, I believe when they do see the violence it will be a strong shock to them, and could possibly harm them even more. With the story Stephen King widely expressed his thoughts of what he believed although it all seemed ironic coming from him, a man who is famous for writing horror novels.
