Thermogravimetric Analysis on The Pyrolysis

end was also observed when thermogravimetric experiments using fine particles of wood showed that moisture in the wood is evaporated first followed by a sequential decomposition of hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin (Salazar,1993; Reina,1988; Williams, et al., 1994).
In spite of the numerous studies existing on biomass pyrolysis mechanisms, (Shafizadeh, 1982; Jegers & Klein, 1985) there is no general accepted model that can predict accurate information about final conversion of rice hull over a wide range of pyrolysis conditions (Koufopanos, et al, 1989).
The objective of this research is to conduct TGA analysis on two varieties of rice hulls (R-302 and R-19) under an inert environment using a dynamic thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) at three different heating rates. Fine particles of 100 mesh are used. The results from the TGA are analyzed to determine the kinetics of pyrolysis of rice hulls. The effect of rice varieties on the thermal decomposition of the sample at the three different heating rates are also determin
