People in this movie are all dressed as they ought to be in the late nineteen forties and early nineteen fifties. When Jake is in the boxing ring he is always wearing his boxing gloves and trunks to establish himself as a boxer. But the bottom line is that this movie is not about boxing no matter how many times you see him in the ring fighting another man. This movie is about a fighter and the people that make up this individuals life. He has very little good qualities about himself but seems to try to grow and change his situation many times. We see him wear very different styles of clothing to show where he is and what the situation requires him to wear. He seems not to want to conform to the ideas of society and wants to make up his own rules to live by.
                 When one uses lighting in a black and white movie they tend to over do it and have everything come out extremely bright on camera.
