The Devil as a Necessary Part of a Respectable

             During in the 1800's women were burned for possession of witchcraft and corruption by the "Devil". The Devil is a symbol of evil and humans belief that those who are evil are related to the Devil. Many religions use the "Devil" to make a common enemy for their cause. In my opinion, the Devil exists as long as humans believe in him. Evil does exist in human nature, but it cannot be explained so th e "Devil" is a way of describing that. Since we created God and the Devil, they are both important and related to each other. There is a balance to everything, whether it is good or bad, yes or no, etc. People tend to act differently to either attract attention or change society. That's how the world maintains its balance. If the world is only good, then there is no difference between people; it will be boring, and over a long period of time people will be unhappy. When some person realizes they can be bad, they will commit an evil act. They will beat up people, steal things that do not belong to them or break things just for fun and the world would be out of control. God exists in this world because of people's strong faith and beliefs. It provides all the positive energy to things in life. But to balance the equation we also need the presence of negative energy, which therefore leads to the idea of the existence of the Devil.
             In early centuries, the church set a guideline to how people should live their lives. Anything that goes against the church is considered bad or evil. In this play, The Crucible, the unexplained was caused by the devil, some members of Salem used the unexplained to their advantage. Mrs. Putnam told the truth when she said, "There are wheels within wheels in this village, and fires within fires!"
