Freedom

            Freedom?
             Something I believe in strongly would be the decriminalization of marijuana. With the decriminalizing of marijuana many things would be accomplished. First there would be the money benefits of the government not having to spend money on charging people with marijuana convictions. Second thing would be religious freedoms, and the third not having lives destroyed over a misdemeanor conviction.
             The government spent over 250 billion dollars last year on misdemeanor marijuana convictions. That is almost twice the amount of money spent on public schooling last year. The fact that more money is spent on marijuana convictions than all other drug convictions gets you thinking. Can't this money be used more wisely? 250 billion dollars is a lot of money that could be used more efficiently on other programs throughout our government.
             Our government says that using marijuana is wrong. But they also say we have religious freedom. So which one is right, our government allows Native Americans to use peyote and mushrooms as part of religious ceremonies but wont let A Rastafarian use marijuana. Peyote and mushrooms which are poison, and actually dangerous to use are allowed. So where is the religious freedom for someone who believes that Ganja (God's Herb) is bad and cant be used as a religious sacrament. It is a double standard enforced by conservative republicans who wont use critical thinking to look at the other side of the controversy
             Misdemeanor convictions of marijuana destroy thousands of lives each year. In states like Texas and formerly Nevada a conviction of marijuana no matter how much would fetch you a five year sentence automatically. You have just destroyed this person's life, who is going to be at home with your significant other, the kids, and who is going to help with the bills. This person has just lost there job and probably ruined there marriage. The wife can't support the kids and...
