Jane Austen

             Characters in a work of literature are sometimes configured from a pure brilliant sense of imagination. Other times they can be a reflection of the author portraying herself in a character form. This is the case in the works of Jane Austen. Austen's many authentic personalities are portrayed in most of the female heroines in her novels. Her many personality transformations will be examined closer throughout this paper. (Compton's)
             Jane Austen was born on December 16th 1775 in New Hampshire. She was the daughter of George and Cassandra Austen. She was the seventh of eight children. (Grey 24) She had very little education and schooling. Her education was called to a halt when she was just nine years old. (Bloom 35) When Austen was a little girl of about eleven years old, she started to creatively write poems and small stories. Three of these stories are published in a book called Juvenilia. Her most famous childhood piece was Love and Friendship. (36) She also liked to perform the plays she had written. Her family would have a special day that they would all get together and perform in the family barn, one of the plays Austen wrote. She knew from that time when she was writing at age eleven that she wanted to pursue her writing career, as she got older. (Compton's)
             Austen, who was now a young woman of 20 decided to start and write her novels so she could publish them, and make a living off her writings. Although she had some trouble publishing her novels because of her writing styles, that did not stop her. Austen kept writing. By the year of 1797 she will have 3 novels completed. (Grey 39) "Austen's writing style is a bunch of fused together sentiment and comedy with the unprecedented quality of realism."(165) After Austen went through the harsh criticisms of the publishers, her father tried to get First Impressions [Which now goes by the name of Pride and Prejudice
