As I was reading through Griffin's essay, I came across the italicized excerpts about the V-1 rocket. I read about them and then it made me stop and think of how it fed into the essay and about people today. I did some research about the rocket and came across some interesting facts. There was no navigation system, so it was simply pointed in the direction of its target. Only 25% of the V1s hit their target and eight out of ten of the missiles will land within eight miles of their targets. The weapon did limited damage to England as it was vulnerable to fighter aircraft, and many were also shot down by antiaircraft fire. This made me stop and thing how Griffin was fitting it into her essay and how it fit in with the people and what was going on. It is obvious to concur that the missile was obviously used my the Nazis in World War II but as I sat and thought about the whole concept and how the technology of the missile has changed over the years it made me think of what Griffin was really trying to get across in her essay. Back in the 1920's people didn't have many views on the world and were very one dimensional meaning that because the V-1 rocket wasn't very advanced and it was very limited technology wise. Because the rocket was very underdeveloped, this would tie in the people of the time. As time went on and things became more advanced and technology changed the missile developed into an awesome weapon. By the end of Griffins essay the missile had developed into the MX missile and was very advanced and could do many things. It could be used for multiple purposes and had a navigational system and was very advanced. As the technology changed, people change. It is very obvious and I believe that Griffin is showing this through the missile example. Society as a whole was very simple and usually followed one way or one idea just as the early missile was very simple and didn't have many features. Now, in today&ap...
