Veil

             In an interview with President Arnold on the issue of face-veiling on Thursday, December 2nd, 2004, he defended AUC's policy, said that there are no easier restrictions on face veiled students and that whenever they're reported to the administration he'll take action and continue to suspend them.
             A student from Azhar university was denied access to the AUC library in 2001 as she refused uncovering her face to the security, and since then, there have been a pending case in court about this issue, but the court postponed the final decision till the end of January.
             Knowing that face veiled students are willing to cooperate with security on gates by showing their faces and are also willing to show their faces to professors during exams, what are the security reasons we're talking about? He said that "having people going around with masks on campus" not knowing if it's a man or a woman is insecure for other people around. There is an academic aspect that is just as important as the university's policy he added, that professors also complained about, which occurs during class discussions. Having a conversation with someone covering their face is uncomfortable and hinders class discussions.
