Marc Antony uses his skills as a speechmaker to change the crowd's opinion about the conspirators. He convinces the crowd to have the same opinion as himself by firstly demolishing Brutus' charge of ambition. He does so not by saying that the conspirators were wrong to kill Caesar, but by offering two reasons why Caesar was not ambitious." He hath brought many captives home to Rome"; this quote tells the crowd that Caesar does not work for himself he works for all of Rome. The second reason Marc Antony gives to defeat the charge is "when that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept", Marc Antony is really telling the crowd that Caesar cares for all citizens no matter how little money they might have. This comment is then backed up by referring back to the charge of ambition "Ambition should be made of sterner stuff", this comment is placed very cleverly after the reasons why Caesar was not ambitious because Marc Antony wants the crowd to realise that ambitious people just work for themselves and they certainly don't care how other people are feeling especially not poor people.
             Mark Antony mentions that Caesar has left a will to at first catch the attention of the crowd "mention it within their will", by mentioning Caesars will the crowd shuts and listens to hear if he has left anything to the people. Marc Antony gives the reasons why he cannot read the will to cause suspense "hearing the will of Caesar, it will inflame you" the tone that Marc Antony is using when he says this phrase suggests that he does not want the crowd to get angry when he in fact wants the opposite.
             Marc Antony cleverly attaches the names of the main conspirators to each tear in Caesar's mantle "you all do know this mantle", by showing the mantle to the crowd, they can see just how brutal the murder was. The first tear M
