History of the American/Mexican War

             The Mexican War does promote national interests because the majority of the country, especially the largely populated South, including President Polk strongly favors territorial expansion. If America defeat Mexico and conquer California and Texas, America would gain over half of Mexico's land and grow as a prospered nation. The majority of Americans have adopted the belief of Manifest Destiny and its territorial and economic benefits and prosperity. The conquering and benefits of California and Texas will promote and enlarge the Democratic government. If America is victorious in the Mexican War, then America will undoubtedly grow as one of the most powerful nations in the world.
             The national interest of America is to have security and stability as a nation. Great Britain wants Texas as a puppet territory to threaten and create a diversion against America. Britain also wants to challenge the Monroe Doctrine and get this important area for trading and cotton production. America must defeat the Mexicans and be victorious to gain control of this vast and important area. With the acquisition of Texas, America will continue the control of the British's dependence on America's cotton. America must wage into the Mexican War to achieve the national interests of security and stability. With the victory of the Mexican War, some significant gains. Their rivals, Great Britain, would see
             America as a powerful nation, therefore, settling the issue of the Oregon controversy. The Mexican War will create endless opportunities for America to prosper and promote America's interest of territorial expansion and security.
             President Polk, who strongly believes with the majority of the nation in Manifest Destiny and its territorial and economic benefits, endorses the Mexican War.
