Idea of Replacement by Robots and Computers"
Carl Sagan, Neil Freud, and Jeffery Rifkin discuss in all three articles the idea of robots and computer evolving into "intelligent machines". These machines (computers) will one day replace humans. These three articles talk about how these machines will change the way we live, love, and perceive the world.
These "intelligent machines", as Sagan refers, will perform simple tasks and one day replaces workers. Robots and machines already are performing certain tasks that are too dangerous for humans. Sagan states that robots and machines that have started to perform menial tasks that today people depend on as a job, is not too damaging. The theory is that these people will then be able to go out and learn more meaningful jobs and better themselves. Sagan also says that this replacement is not good, because people will lose jobs. The amount of jobs available will decrease because now robots can replace humans in the workforce. We should respect and not fear what robots and machines can do for us.
In Freud's article he talks about humans and robots coming together to be friends and companions. The idea that robots will become capable of being intelligent, interactive machines that the user will be able to interact with. These new machines will have the ability to tell our mood and respond. The machine will become a new friend that's always there. Freud says that these robots will fill a void for real human friend and provide a false friendship. He also says that we should not really condemn these
Machines who can help people who have problems with socials contact. But this contact with the robot will further separate these people from human real relationships.
Rifkin says "that the television has already started to change and shape our views". We are going to become separate between reality and simulation. Rifkin discusses in his...
