an important statement because it was in 1959 that Chevrolet made a considerate change to their car. Truscott contends he then made his way home and that was the last time he had any contact with Harper. Significant statements such as the one made by a twelve-year old boy, named Gord Logan, affirmed that he saw Harper and Truscott ride over the bridge in the direction of Highway 8. The Crown claimed that from where Logan said he was standing that one could not see clearly enough to identify persons. However, the first investigator to hear Logan's story went out to where he was standing and concluded that one could identify colours, and persons from the distance. He also went on to submit a report in which he believed that there was no reason to disregard Logan's story. Obviously, this report was never heard in court, nor seen by the defense. Another little boy Doug Oates also corroborated Truscott's story. He claimed to have seen the two cross the bridge. The police could not find any good way to discredit Oates' story so they concocted a conspiracy theory in which it had Oates, and Logan, sticking up for their friend.
