High school teachers are too easy on students and as a result students begin to believe all teachers are lenient. My teachers in high school need to prepare students for the future, and not only get them through high school. With lack of preparation, students' nervousness may be accentuated, especially after the students' professors are discovered not to be lenient. When teachers are too focused on being liked they become lenient and begin allowing students to argue with them in order to change grades, like my high school Spanish teacher, and get deadlines moved back.
             Many of my teachers in high school did care if they were liked because they wanted to have students who enjoyed there class in their class because if students don't like a class they don't participate, thus the teacher does not enjoy teaching. My history teacher would allow students to make fun of her and she would not say anything to them, because she wanted to be liked. Even though woodworking is not a real academically difficult class the best woodworker always did everyone's work without argument from the teacher. These examples clearly show a negative effect of a teacher wanting to be liked more than just doing their job.
             Since I was a decent student and did not make trouble if I needed an extension on a project or paper my teachers would normally comply, even when they knew I waited until the last minute to begin. Being a good student was the main reason my deadlines were moved back when I needed them to be, where as a bad student did not get the extension because of the disruption he/he caused. Since most good students are respectful teachers are more likely to grant them extensions. Clearly, if a teacher is respected she will repay the favor.
