             In 1870, Graham's younger died of tuberculosis, then his eldest bother died later that year from the same disease. Doctors warned Graham that he had a high risk of dying too if he stayed in the city, so in August of 1870 Melville quit his job and moved his family to Brantford, Ontario, Canada where the climate was considered "healthy".
