             Macbeth's equivocal yet valiant introduction is a direct juxtaposition to Lady Macbeth's opening soliloquy. Lady Macbeth directly highlights Macbeth's weakness, him being "too full o' the milk of human kindness". In Lady Macbeth's society she is subordinate, yet Shakespeare lends her decisive and calm qualities, which allow her to dominate her husband and provide both a lucid and coherent soliloquy. By aligning herself with the supernatural, Lady Macbeth is empowered, but only to empower her husband, she has no desire to become queen, only that Macbeth shall succeed and become king. The knowledge Lady Macbeth has of her husband, allows her to see the seeds of ambition, which with her powerful and persuasive language, can be sown to provide the power to exhort Macbeth to become evil and corrupt. By calling upon the spirits to "unsex me here, and fill me from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty; make thick my blood", Lady Macbeth attempts to rid of herself of all that makes her a woman, such as tenderness, love and pity. Lady Macbeth believes she can enable Macbeth to reach his potential, to do this she will chastise everything in him that prevents him from being evil enough to commit regicide and become king.
