Writing is the conveyance of language through the use of visual

communities are estimated to exist today. They range from millions of

Because of assigned meanings to various parts of speech and words in
language, control, socialization, thought, and feelings are all conveyed
via the spoken and written word. A simple example of using language for
control is when a mother states "no" to her child when the child is about
to do something that the mother does not want done. She is attempting to
control, or alter, the child's action by using a single word to convey
several ideas which may include "stop doing that," "do not go in there,"
"leave your sister's cat alone" etc. In more formal ways control through
language can be one of verbal or written orders commanding individuals or
groups to perform a function or complete a task. Verbal control can also
constitute a psychological attempt to mold and/or hold another person or
persons under a persons influence through force of personality.
