             To the surprise of the U.S. Government, in 1987, at the request of Harley-Davidson, tariffs on Japanese motorcycles ended one year ahead of schedule, and Harley-Davidson is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol HDI. In 1993 Harley-Davidson Financial Services was founded and in 1995 Harley-Davidson formalized its unique Partnership relationship with its unionized workforce. In 1998 Harley-Davidson acquired Buell Motorcycle Company, and opened a new powertrain plant outside of Milwaukee in Menomonee Falls, Wis. and also buildt a new final assembly plant in Kansas City, Mo. Over a hundred thousand motorcycle enthusiasts come to Milwaukee to celebrate the Company's 95th birthday.
             In 1999 The Twin Cam 88™ powertrain is introduced on the Dyna and Touring models. In the new millennium year of 2000 the HDI stock split for the fifth time since 1986, proof positive that investment in HDI returns outstanding dividends. In order to better compete with the "racing-style" motorcycle enthusiast in 2001 the Harley-Davidson VRSCA V-Rod™ was introduced for the 2002 model year. It's the first production motorcycle with a liquid-cooled engine (the Revolution™) in Harley-Davidson Motor Company history.
