Statistics from the organization of National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence claimed, "Use of alcohol and other drugs is associated with the leading causes of death, injury, motor-vehicle crashes, homicides, and suicides among teenagers and young adults." Because drugs impair judgment, it leaves them at risk to injure themselves or innocent people. Researchers estimate that alcohol use is implicated in one- to two-thirds of sexual assault and acquaintance or "date" rape cases among teens and college students (Youth, Alcohol, and Other Drugs). Statistics similar to these will increase and allow teenagers to expose themselves to suicide, and injury and any harmful situations if alcohol is permitted at their age.
