They would inject capital inputs and technical assistance, which was to encourage economies to reach a point from which sustained economic growth. Simultaneously, emphasis was laid on providing the infrastructural facilities and institutions to assist the transition towards modern, capitalist, industrialised societies. It is assumed that this will gradually reach through all the different socio-economic groups that compose the society, and poverty would be eliminated . Of course this was not the way that things happened.
             As time went on the gap between those who benefited from the development and those who were not were increasing. This is mainly because most of these countries are non-democratic and the people with power will control the capitals and developments that the developed countries throws into them and it is not getting to the people who really needs these developments. An example in the article by J. Cleves Mosse stated that, the introduction of high-yielding varieties in 'green revolution' farming may have led to massive increases in food production, but the control of the land by a small group of landlords meant that the benefits of such increases did not necessarily go to those who actually produce the food .
             As some of the women living in the third world countries wrote about the lives they live under these circumstances, we can see how capitalism has hurt their lives even more than before. The Association of African Women for Research and Development (AAWORD) released a manifesto in 1985 stating their analysis on the present crisis of Africa:
