As he goes to shore to spy on the men who are looking for stray slave men trying to escape he makes up a story about where he came from and that only his family was with him on his raft. He then realizes that it was very risky doing what he did and was debating weather or not to turn Jim in or take him to freedom. I was paddling off, all in a sweat to tell on him: but when he says this is seemed to kind of take the tuck all out of me.? (p. 111) There friendship began to work in both ways with both guys putting in risks and effort to keep the other one alive.
             Ever since Huck had escaped his father from the cavern in the woods he has had to play many different roles to get himself out of different situations. He has had to lie in order to keep Jim alive. He has had to dress up like a girl to decieve people
