the successes of their students. It requires that the states aid the disadvantaged student in reaching the same standards as all students in the state. This directive prevents states from holding the less able students to a different set of standards.
             The NCLB Act consists of four basic elements. These elements include (1) accountability for results, (2) an emphasis on doing what works based on scientific research, (3) expanding parental options, and (4) expanding local control and flexibility. The accountability element of NCLB relates to the responsibility of the school systems to make sure that they are working towards the common goal of having all students proficient in accordance to the state standards. If the systems are not making progress towards this goal, it gives the government the power to correct these discrepancies and get the schools back on track. The NCLB Act incorporates the use of proven scientific methods to reeducate the students on previously learned skills as a basis for the learning of new skills. To allow for the parents to feel as if their child is getting the best possible education available, the NCLB allows parents to shop around the district for their choice on schools. If one school is not getting the job done in accordance to NCLB standards, the parents are allowed to transfer their child to a school that is sufficiently meeting the standards. Finally, the NCBL Act allows the state government and the school districts the power to distribute funds with fewer strings attached to the federal government. NCLB permits the states to allocate money for professional development, improving technology, and for the hiring of high quality teachers.
