ting stars' by 'Smash mouth', this is a very enthusiastic song as makes you want to get up and dance. I think this changes the mood of the film completely and we get a completely different view of the film already, and the viewer has had two different views already in the first five minutes of the film. After Shrek comes out of the toilet you start to see him have a shower and eat his breakfast. But instead of water in the shower he uses mud and starts to eat some kind of eyeball, this is quite funny to the viewer as its very different. This make Shrek come across as an amusing character and the viewer starts to enjoy the film.
             This opening is very different from your average typical fairytale, as normally the beginnings are slow sad moments where someone normally dies e.g. in 'Snow white and the Seven dwarves' and 'Cinderella' both fathers die leaving the child with the stepmother. The film 'Shrek' is completely different as happy fast music is played and it creates a happy enthusiastic mood. I think this surprises the viewer as they are not expecting this kind of beginning to the film.
             When the villagers arrive, Shrek threatens them. He facetiously names different ways ogres torture people. He was trying to scare them away, but teasing them at the same time, he used words such as:
             'Ogres are much worse than giants, there'll make soup from your fleshly pealed skin and squeeze the jelly from your eyes'
             The viewer would find this funny as it is obvious to them that the ogre is joking and that he would never do that but the villagers has no idea. The villagers then still do not move. So the ogre uses a different approach, he opened his mouth and roared to scare them away. While he was doing this, the camera used a close up and could see parts of old food coming from his mouth.
