Another set of works composed in this period includes the anthem, the ballet and the pavane and galliard. The anthem can be split into two types, the full and the verse. The full anthem is unaccompanied and sung by a choir whereas a verse anthem is accompanied by organ/vocals and sung by a soloist or choir. Anthems are also sacred and are usually relatively short. A ballet is very similar to a madrigal. The only differences are that it uses fewer counterparts than a madrigal and has a fa-la-la chorus. The pavane and galliard are two dances that work together.
