Resembling Perfection

. Rather than accepting ourselves as we are, we tend to transform our image to resemble that of the ideal self. If we could spend less time trying to be better, it would allow us to spend more time enjoying who we already are. In a sense, we are like robots and over time we are being programmed to be a specific thing and meet specific criteria. And we all spend our life reaching toward the same goal, human perfection. But why do we waste so much of our time attempting to gain satisfaction, when there is no guaranteed reward? Even Ben Franklin himself could never obtain a state of perfection. During his life, he conceived a list of thirteen desirable virtues that if he followed daily, would eventually allow him to live a life of complete perfection.
