Essentially, what Paul James and Hofstede explained is that culture is a multifaceted concept that while made up of multiple variables brings them together and houses them to ultimately shape the actions, way of life and manner of thought shared by people within a specific range of space. However, although culture can bring people together through shared commonality and practices, it can also foster major challenges within international business. Specifically, when trying to establish and maintain an effective collaborative effort to achieve an objective when more than one culture is involved. This proves to be a particularly difficult task because sometimes when two or more cultures interact with one another cultural conflict can occur. Cultural conflict, more colloquially known as 'Culture Clash' is "The conflict or discord arising from the interaction between two or more cultures" (Oxford, 2016). Cultural conflict can occur for a number of reasons, and it most often occurs due to differences in beliefs, values, and practices.
             While the gravity of the negative implications brought on by culture clash may vary. As history has shown us, these negative outcomes foster separation, individualism and sometimes even loss of life i.e. World War I, World War II, the 'War on Terror' (Lerche, n.d.). Additionally, it is important to note that culture clash is not wholly limited to a clash between multiple 'national' cultures. Culture clash may similarly occur when organizational culture clashes with national culture.
