Hard determinists argues that there is no room for human decision in a world governed by cause and effect: for humans to have free will we must be able to originate our choices. This is to say that our choices must be free from all cause and effect, otherwise cause and effect determines our action and we are not free, our choices must originate solely from within ourselves for them to be free. If our choices are so rigorously determined by the causal world in which we live, no room is left for freedom of action (free will) and therefore no room is left for moral responsibility. When I act, this action was allready determined by previous causes. When I choose chips over cheese, what I experience as free will is infact a pre-determined choice resulting from the causal influences around me.
             This hard determinism is often viewed as being chain like in its causal operations: a cause creates an effect, this effect becomes a cause and creates another effect, and so on and so forthe. Due to the strict laws in nature (known today as necessary connection) these cause and effect relationships are strictly determined in there outcome, leaving no possibility of any variation. Therefore it is possible to argue that everything that happens in the universe today, and everything that happened before today, had to happen since the time when the causal chain began, nothing could have happened any other way due to the strict determinism of cause and effect. This picture suggests that we could theoretically create a map of everything that has happened in the universe up to this present date, and if we had the knowledge, of everything that is to happen in the future. For example, if I had the scientific knowledge, i could take all the actions of the people around me today, and due to my knowledge of the causal world, i could predict their future behaviour, like a weather report on a much grander scale.
